Why I am Running for Trustee

Indiana University is at a pivotal moment, and I believe strong, forward-thinking leadership is essential to ensuring its continued success. As a trustee, I will bring a fresh voice and perspective to drive meaningful results that positively impact students, faculty, staff and the broader university community. It is time for new ideas, opinions and focus to make our University the best in class. I will bring that voice and energy for change and transparency.

I am running because I am deeply committed to:

Student Success – Advocating for policies that enhance affordability, academic excellence, and career readiness while ensuring the campus experience is as impactful as mine.
Faculty & Staff Support – Strengthening resources for educators, researchers, and staff to maintain IU’s reputation as a world-class institution with open communication channels.
Innovation & Growth – Ensuring the university remains competitive in research, sustainability, and technology.
Transparency & Accountability – Promoting open communication between trustees, students, and faculty to build trust and drive informed decision-making.

Key Issues I will Advocate for Indiana University

1. Enhancing the Student Experience

Evaluate Online learning with emphasis on in-classroom experience
Advocate for lower tuition costs and reduced student fees.
Expand scholarships, grants, and financial aid opportunities while evaluating state & federal funding impacts.
Push for cost transparency to help students make informed financial decisions.
Evaluate Greek Life and plan moving forward that ensures safety and reasonable oversight with jurisprudence.
Promote financial literacy programs to help students manage debt and plan for the future.

2. Retain top-tier Educators, Researchers, Staff and Mentors

Support faculty & staff recruitment and retention to maintain a high level of teaching and research.
Ensure competitive salaries and benefits to retain top faculty members.
Invest in professional development, research grants, and mentorship programs.
Reduce administrative burdens so faculty can focus on teaching and research.
Advocate for research funding at every level.
Focus on academic excellence & innovation while developing a plan for articfical intelligence use by students.
Strengthen STEM, liberal arts, and professional programs to align with evolving job markets.
Invest in cutting-edge research and technology to keep IU at the forefront of innovation.

3. Campus Safety & Well-being

Prioritize mental health resources, ensuring students have access to counseling and support.
Enhance campus security measures while promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Address concerns related to student housing (dorms, greek housing, off campus).
Evaluate food options on campus reducing "fast food" emphasis.

4. Sustainability & Campus Infrastructure

Promote initiatives to reduce energy waste and evaluate occupancy need at all campus locations.
Improve campus facilities, including housing, classrooms, and technology access.
Push for responsible financial management of university resources.

5. Transparency & Governance

Ensure open communication between trustees, students, faculty, and alumni.
Advocate for ethical decision-making and accountability in university leadership.
Support shared governance, where faculty and students have a voice in key policies.
Proactively evaluate the ever changing Athletic NIL, Portal and Revenue Sharing protocols.
